19 THOUSAND 673 VESSELS PASSED THROUGH THE TURKISH STRAITS IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE YEAR

According to the information obtained from the data of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, in the first 3 months of 2021, 19 thousand 673 vessels passed through the Istanbul and Canakkale straits.

During the January-March period, while 9 thousand 318 vessels passing the Istanbul Strait, the maximum passing took place in March with 3 thousand 330. The least passing took place in February with 2 thousand 909.

While 6 thousand 87 of the vessels passing the Istanbul Strait utilized from pilot service, 5,931 of them made non-stopover passages.

10,355 vessels passed through the Canakkale Strait in the January-March period. The maximum passing was seen in March with 3 thousand 763 vessels, and the least in February with 3 thousand 214 vessels.

While 5 thousand 263 of the vessels passing the Canakkale Strait utilized from pilot service, 5,963 of them made non-stopover passages.

Thus, a total of 19,673 vessels passing through the Istanbul and Canakkale Straits were recorded between January 1 and March 31.
