Captain Mustafa Can, Member of the Board of Directors of IMEAK Chamber of Shipping (DTO) and Chairman of the Board of Transbosphor Shipping, stated that orders of new vessels will increase despite the costs during the television program he participated in. He said, “Because the freights will continue at this level. Everyone has to be prepared for this.”
Mustafa Can stated that sheet metal prices in shipbuilding have increased and that the overall costs have increased due to the logistics problems. Can also states that the new shipbuilding orders will increase despite all the increasing costs.
Can, as well as expressing that especially the orders in small tonnage ship market will increase, said that coaster renewal projects should be started urgently and port investments should be accelerated.
Mustafa Can stated that the big price drop in freights, which started with the great crisis in 2008, continued until the 2020s and now the increase in container prices has reached such a level to cover the 12-year losses of the companies.
