Tersan Shipyard signed contract with its long-term partner Leinebris AS for building a new generation fishing vessel.
The previous Leinebris (which is still used for fishing activities) was delivered in 2015 again as a product of Tersan Shipyard and has been successfully engaged in fishing operations so far. The new vessel which will also be named Leinebris has been developed in consideration of the success factors of the former one. The new Leinebris will be the first fishing vessel in the world where three different fishing methods, such as line fishing, fishing with nets and purse seine fishing, are combined in a single vessel. The vessel in which energy efficiency is kept in focus will have three diesel electrical generators as a well as a battery package. Also both the stern and the bow will be equipped with Azimuth propellers to increase maneuvering abilities and boost energy efficiency. Having a length of 64.9 meters and a width of 15 meters, Leinebris aims to provide premium safety for the crew with its double freight deck, covered workshop deck and moonpool which allows for fishing even under extreme weather conditions. The main features of the vessel also include RSW tanks which can catch ship alive. Thanks to these tanks, fish can be processed freshly onboard and direct unloading from tanks to the shore is made possible.
Paul Harald Leinebø from Leinebris says, “We would like to hunt fish in consideration of the future and care for the available resources in the best way possible. To this end, we adopted an innovative way of thinking and we are building the vessel that will be the best fit for it”. Designed by Tersan’s long-term partner Skipsteknisk, the vessel will have a high-standard living area for 25 people, equipped with the best facilities for the relaxation and wellness of the crew. The new Leinebris has been planned for delivery in 2025.
