The first vessel of the Pakistan MİLGEM Corvette Project, the F-280 Babur, was launched with a ceremony attended by President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Pakistan Arif Alvi.
Attending the 1st Vessel Sheet Cutting Ceremony of Pakistan MİLGEM 1st Vessel Launching and Offshore Patrol Vessel Project at Istanbul Shipyard Command; President Erdoğan stated “4 MILGEM class corvettes will be built for Pakistan. Two of these will be produced in our country and two in Pakistan. Delivery of all corvettes shall be completed by 2025”.
Stating that the ties of brotherhood between Turkey and Pakistan go back to the deep past of history, President Erdoğan said that he is pleased with the launch of the first of the 4 MİLGEM corvettes to be built for Pakistan.
